Recently it was my pleasure to make a contribution to an upcoming editorial put out by the Dudson Group. You may not have heard of Dudson but you have problem have eaten from their dishes. They are makers of fine china, based in the UK and servicing the restaurant and hospitality industry worldwide. They are one of the oldest companies in England, having been around since 1800, and make some incredibly beautiful stuff.

Their latest editorial is a magazine to accompany their catalogue, showing case studies of how their tableware is used in restaurants around the world. The magazine is soon to be debuted in the US at the NRA trade show in Chicago. My job was to shoot portraits of Chef Brendan at The Observatory Restaurant at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, BC. The Observatory was the only Canadian restaurant featured.

Below is the cover of the magazine (not mine) and the profile I worked on. I have also included some images that didn’t make the cut. We shot chef portraits, action in the kitchen, including plating using Dudson products, as well as the food served in the restaurant dining room. We finished off with some cool details shots around The Observatory itself, which has a rustic flair befitting of a luxury mountaintop lodge.

Chef Brendan and his team were fantastic to work with, taking time out of their busy day to volunteer for the shoot. They made it a lot of fun and a breeze to work on.
